The Fair Queen

Charlotte and Charlie went to the fair last night while Emma Kate and I stayed home and cleaned the house. Charlotte had to wear her "fair outfit". They looked at the all of the animals, Charlotte got her face painted (a big deal for her!) and they went to the tractor pull (the reason for going). The daddy/daughter date commenced at 11:30!

What is summer without a popsicle?

Emma Kate is now at the age where she realizes if Charlotte gets something and she doesn't. Mom and I discovered today that there are no more good behavior Barbies for Charlotte without Emma Kate also getting something. Emma Kate was very jealous of Charlotte's popsicle and thus got her very own 1st popsicle. Please pardon Emma Kate's pjs - it laundry day!

Emma Kate's 1st Kiss

We went to the spray park again today with some friends from work... 3/5ths of the moms there worked last night!! Here is a picture of Emma Kate and Chad's 1st kiss. Chad is just 6 wks younger than Emma Kate. Chad was a little unsure but Emma Kate was all about it!

Sorry for the delay

I know we haven't posted in over a week and longer without pictures. We spent the 4th of July weekend at mom's and I can't download pics there. Then, I left both cameras at mom's and will get them this coming weekend. We had an uneventful week last week. Yesterday Emma Kate and mom spent the day playing together (all alone!). I worked on Saturday night and slept for 4 hrs on Sunday until Emma Kate woke up from nap. Charlie put her down and then left with Charlotte for the day (One of Charlie's great friends, Chris, mother passed away and Charlie went to help him move furniture). Charlotte went to play with his daughter Sam - they always have a great time together. Emma Kate had a wonderful day. I was very suprised that she wasn't loud yesterday at all! As many of you know, Emma Kate is quite vocal but yesterday she didn't have anyone to compete with. She definitely knew Charlotte and Charlie were gone. She had a tough time going to bed - 2 hrs past bedtime at 9:30 and said "Hi Dada" for the majority of those 2 hrs!

Happy 4th of July

4th of July has always been my favorite holiday, but I have never really been able to celebrate. In high school and college, my 4th of Julys were spent working at Snowbear, briefly watching the fireworks in the street then running back inside to serve custard to the 1000s of people walking by. After that, Charlie and I went to one 4th of July when I was very pregnant with Charlotte. Then, every year since then I have worked and we weren't convinced that Charlotte wouldn't scream the whole time (our timid girl but yet stubborn and strong willed). This year, 4th of July wasn't a scheduled holiday for me and Meredith, Jeff and John are at mom's this weekend. Charlie does have to work open to close the whole weekend so he didn't participate. Everyone was going to go see the fireworks but the babies fell asleep and I can't imagine Emma Kate not screaming through the whole thing. It did end up nicely. Charlotte and I went on a date just her and me. We spent about an hour playing in the grass before the festivities started. Charlotte did great - she told me the colors of each firework and was quite amazed. Her favorites were "the purple one and the one that looked like a hotdog"! No pictures however, mommy forgot the camera:(

Aunt Denise and Tomas

The actual reason for our visit to MA! A beautiful wedding and a great time with family!

Providence, RI Zoo

Charlie drove with his brother "Little Uncle Jeff" to MA and met us at the airport. Charlie's dad came in the next day with his sister and Cindy on the following night. On Wednesday night, we went to a family cook-out that Denise (Charlie's aunt that got married) and Tomas (her husband) threw. Charlotte and Emma Kate got to meet many people for the 1st time!

The next day we went to the Providence, RI zoo. It was a small zoo but had a ton of trees to keep up cool. It wasn't very crowded so Charlotte got to walk most of the time. We took Charlotte on the merry go round at the end and Grandpa and Uncle Jeff stayed with sleeping Emma Kate in the car!

**Please note our attempt at a family picture - there must have been something interesting behind us!

Back Track... Headed to Boston

After our week in FL, the girls and I headed to Boston to meet Charlie for his Aunt's wedding. Mom flew home and I was by myself for the 1st time flying with the two of them! Everything went well, Charlotte slept almost the whole time and I recommend Benadryl for little ones!! However, the 1 1/2 hr flight lasted about 4 hrs due to weather and then our gate being taken. They did great!! Charlotte did keep saying "Are we going down into the water". Not a good thing to say on a plane!

Back track... Animal Kingdom

While we were in FL, we went to Animal Kingdom. What a wonderul park! Charlotte LOVED the Lion King and Nemo shows. She has told her Memaw many times that she wants those DVDs for her birthday. At the end of the day, we were on our way to see Pocahontas, when 3 of the 4 kiddos fell asleep. We took that opprotunity to walk straight to the car! What a fun day had by all!!

Charlotte's 1st Dentist Visit

As many of you know, Charlotte is quite timid! She had her 1st dentist visit today and did GREAT!! She sat in my lap, let the hygienist "count" her teeth with a little mirror (her favorite part) and brush her teeth. She did not like the electric toothbrush but got to pick out a princess toothbrush (She picked Sleeping Beauty, her favorite for the moment). She wouldn't even look at the dentist. She put in her "sucky fingers" and buried her face in my chest. However, this was a great milestone for Charlotte b/c she just stopped screaming at my friend Krysta, whom she has know for about 2 yrs!! Sorry, no pics from the dentist.
